Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
1. Age Limit (As on 19-08-2026)
- Minimum Age: 15 Years
- Maximum Age: 24 Years
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST gets 5 years, OBC gets 3 years, PwBD gets 10 years, and Ex-Servicemen get up to 10 years additional relaxation.
2. Educational & Technical Qualifications
- For ITI Trades: Must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) under 10+2 system with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board AND possess National Trade Certificate (NTC) / Provisional Trade Certificate in notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.
- For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology & Radiology): Must have passed Class 12 Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) under 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- Note: The minimum 50% marks requirement in Class 10 is NOT mandatory for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates. Candidates awaiting final results are NOT eligible.
Monthly Stipend & Training Period
- Training Duration: 1 Year for most designated trades (1 Year and 3 Months for MLT trades).
- Minimum Monthly Stipend: Minimum ₹ 9,600/- per month for NTC/STC holders. (Increases to ₹ 10,560 for 2nd year and ₹ 11,040 for 3rd year where applicable).
- Note: No hostel accommodation will be provided by Railway authorities during the training period.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
The engagement of Act Apprentices will be done purely on a Merit Basis without any written test:
- Merit Calculation: Based on the average percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (min 50% aggregate) + ITI trade marks. Both qualifications carry equal weightage.
- For MLT Trades: Based on the average percentage of marks in Class 10 (min 50%) + Class 12 Science (PCB).
- Tie-Breaking: Older candidates in age will be ranked higher. If DOB is also identical, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier will be preferred.
- Document Verification & Medical Test: Shortlisted candidates (1.5 times the slots) will be called for DV and medical certificate verification.
